This hands-on, inquiry-based workshop introduces participants to the award-winning Project Archaeology curricula that meet Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These ready-to-use lessons equip you to guide students through the core tools of archaeological investigation—observation, inference, evidence, context, and classification—while meeting curricular needs in science, social studies, art, language arts, and math.

Perfect for grades 3–6 and easily adaptable for older students.

You Will:

  • Discover the resources available at the Old Stone House Museum.
  • Experience the award-winning Project Archaeology curriculum.
  • Learn how to use archaeological inquiry-based methods that meet academic standards and place-based education goals.
  • Network with fellow educators and archaeologists.
  • Earn 1.5 CEUs from the Vermont Rural Education Collaborative

Who Should Attend?

  • K-12 teachers, curriculum specialists, homeschoolers, and museum and historic site educators looking to integrate cultural heritage, STEM skills, and archaeological inquiry into their teaching practice.

Workshop Agenda

  • 1:00 – 2:00pm – Tour the Old Stone House Museum
  • 2:00 – 3:30pm – Hands-on Project Archaeology workshop (attendees will earn 1.5 CEUs for professional development/recertification)

  • Free for all K-12 educators, curriculum specialists, and related support staff.

This workshop will be taught by Dr. Angela Labrador, an archaeologist and certified Master Teacher of the Project Archaeology curriculum. The Vermont Archaeology Society is excited to sponsor teachers’ attendance at this workshop and tour. This event is being offered as part of Vermont Archaeology Month.
